The sun set on a summer of shocking revelations about the Jan. 6 Capitol attack Thursday following the eighth congressional hearing on the riot and efforts that led to it. 

The first hearing, more than a month ago, captivated its audience with promises of revelatory information about former President Donald Trump's involvement in the lead up to the attack. Gripping testimony and a grim thesis from the committee evoked murmurs and sometimes tears from the crowd.
